Changes to donor payments
The HFEA have recently announced that the system for paying and compensating donors for their sperm or eggs will change from of 1st April 2012.
From this date donors will receive a flat fee:

• Egg Donors – will receive £750 for each donation cycle.
• Sperm Donors – will receive £35 for each visit to the clinic.

In both cases the sum includes all expenses
Dr Gaudoin (Medical Director, GCRM) said, ‘this will bring payments in the UK closer to what donors in other European countries have been receiving for quite some time. We are not sure what kind of impact this change will make in terms of increasing the number of people who enquire about donating, but we are hopeful that there will be an increase’.
