GCRM Sponsors Pride 2017!

GCRM are thrilled to announce their partnership with Glasgow Pride 2017.

GCRM aims to educate and raise awareness of fertility issues within the LGBT community and also make the LGBT community aware of the  fertility services available to them in Scotland.

I am a gay woman, what treatment do you offer?

Intra-uterine insemination with donor sperm is an option depending on the maternal age. IVF may be more appropriate but you will be advised accordingly on this. GCRM has its own in-house sperm donors but you will also have the option of choosing a donor from overseas. You can read more about this here.

We are a gay male couple, can we have a family?

Yes! GCRM offers bespoke treatment for every family unit scenario. You can have treatment using a surrogate, donor eggs and sperm from your nominated paternal parent. It does come with some legal issues and can be complex but this is why we have a dedicated surrogacy nurse who will guide you through the process. We ask that you call the clinic on 0141 891 8749 in the first instance to discuss the options available to you. You will find lots of information on our surrogacy page.

I am in the process transitioning, what should I do?

It is very important you consider the security of your future fertility options before you transition. Just because you choose to have gender reassignment surgery, does not mean you can’t have a family in the future. It will mean changes to your transitioning treatment for a time, including stopping any hormone therapy but this is a temporary measure.

Male to female transgender

You can freeze your sperm and store it for future treatment with a partner. Depending on your sexuality this may mean you will require a surrogate and donor eggs, therefore you will require some genetic blood tests prior to the sperm freeze. You can store the sperm for an annual fee and them return to GCRM at a later date for treatment when you are ready.

Female to male transgender

You can freeze your eggs and store them for future treatment with your partner. As above you may also require a surrogate depending on your sexuality and will require some genetic testing. After what is basically an IVF cycle we will store your eggs for an annual fee and you can return to GCRM for treatment when you wish to start a family.
